yushmann Khurrana’s latest comedy-drama ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ has crossed the Rs 20 crore net mark in India after its fourth day of release, despite experiencing a significant weekday drop on its first Monday.

The film, which released in theatres on May 15, collected Rs 3.25 crore net on Day 4 across 5,563 shows, according to trade website Sacnilk .

Day-wise breakdown

The Mudassar Aziz directorial opened with Rs 4 crore on Friday. It showed healthy growth over the weekend – Rs 5.75 crore on Saturday and Rs 7.75 crore on Sunday. With Monday’s collection of Rs 3.25 crore, the total India net collection now stands at Rs 20.75 crore .

The film’s worldwide gross collection has reached Rs 28.84 crore, including Rs 4 crore from overseas markets.

Monday drop of 58%

As expected, the film witnessed a sharp decline on its first weekday. The Monday collection of Rs 3.25 crore represents a drop of approximately 58% from Sunday’s Rs 7.75 crore .

Morning shows on Day 4 recorded an occupancy of just 5.15%, reflecting the typical weekday slowdown that affects most Bollywood releases .

How it compares to the 2019 original

The numbers, while decent, fall significantly short of the 2019 original ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ starring Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ananya Panday.

The first film had collected Rs 9.10 crore on Day 1, Rs 12.33 crore on Day 2, and Rs 14.51 crore on Day 3 – totalling Rs 35.94 crore in its opening weekend itself. On its first Monday, it had earned Rs 5.70 crore, taking its four-day total to Rs 41.64 crore .

In comparison, the sequel’s four-day total of Rs 20.75 crore is roughly half of what the original earned in the same period.

Ayushmann’s response to the box office trend

Despite the mixed numbers, Ayushmann Khurrana expressed optimism about the film’s performance. Taking to Instagram Stories, he shared a post about the film’s growth on Sunday, writing: “#PatiPatniAurWohDo is showing fantastic box office momentum with nearly 40 per cent growth coming in today, which clearly indicates strong audience acceptance. Family entertainers thrive on positive word of mouth, and this film is gradually finding its space among the masses.”

Sara Ali Khan, who plays a key role in the film, reshared the story and added: “Keep growing. Darshaks love please keep showing.”

About the film

‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2019 hit. The cast includes Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, and Wamiqa Gabbi in lead roles, with Vijay Raaz, Tigmanshu Dhulia, and Vishal Vashishtha in supporting roles. The film is produced by T-Series Films and B. R. Studios.

The coming weekdays will be crucial in determining the film’s overall box office trajectory. With no major releases until next Friday, the film has an opportunity to add to its total through steady collections.
