Suriya’s fantasy action entertainer ‘Karuppu’ continues its remarkable run at the box office, registering solid growth on its third Sunday and pushing its worldwide gross closer to the coveted Rs 300 crore milestone .

According to Sacnilk, the film collected an estimated Rs 5.90 crore net in India on Day 17 (Sunday, May 31). This represents a healthy 14.6 per cent increase from its Day 16 earnings of Rs 5.15 crore .

India net crosses Rs 182 crore

The latest collections have significantly improved the film’s domestic performance. ‘Karuppu’ has now reached Rs 182.45 crore in total India net collections, while its India gross earnings have climbed to Rs 210.99 crore .

The film was screened across 3,327 shows on Day 17, demonstrating sustained demand even in its third week of release .

Overseas performance steady

International markets have remained a strong contributor to the film’s success. ‘Karuppu’ added Rs 1.25 crore from overseas territories on Day 17, pushing total overseas earnings to Rs 78.25 crore .

With the latest numbers included, ‘Karuppu’s worldwide gross collection has reached Rs 289.24 crore, positioning the film for entry into the elite Rs 300 crore club in the coming days .

Third weekend performance breakdown

The film’s third weekend performance has shown impressive consistency:

  • Day 15 (Third Friday): Rs 3.25 crore net
  • Day 16 (Third Saturday): Rs 5.15 crore net
  • Day 17 (Third Sunday): Rs 5.90 crore net

The weekend jump from Friday to Sunday represents a growth of approximately 81.5 per cent, indicating strong family audience turnout driven by positive word-of-mouth .

Tamil Nadu remains the biggest market

As expected, Tamil Nadu continues to lead the film’s collections. The state contributed Rs 5.35 crore on Day 17, while Andhra Pradesh and Telangana generated Rs 80 lakhs. Karnataka brought in Rs 40 lakhs, and Kerala added Rs 18 lakhs .

Language-wise performance

The Tamil version of ‘Karuppu’ continues to dominate collections. It contributed Rs 5.20 crore on Day 17 with 39 per cent occupancy across 2,353 shows. The Telugu version added Rs 70 lakhs from 974 shows, recording 19 per cent occupancy .

Closing in on record books

‘Karuppu’ has already become the highest-grossing film of Suriya’s career and the 22nd Tamil film to cross the Rs 100 crore gross mark within Tamil Nadu alone . The film’s exceptional stability at the box office stands in contrast to many front-loaded star-driven releases, with strong family audience turnout driving sustained collections even in its third week .

What’s next for ‘Karuppu’

With the Rs 300 crore worldwide milestone now within reach, trade experts expect ‘Karuppu’ to continue its strong run through the weekdays. The film’s consistent weekend growth suggests that positive word-of-mouth remains strong, and limited competition from new releases should allow it to maintain momentum .

‘Karuppu’ is directed by RJ Balaji and features Suriya in the lead role, with Trisha Krishnan as the female lead. The film has emerged as one of the biggest success stories for Tamil cinema in 2026
