The two-minute-thirty-seven-second trailer opens with a chilling question that no parent ever wants to hear: “Bacche kab se gayab hain?” . What follows is a dark, tense glimpse into a city gripped by fear, as children go missing and a family’s worst nightmare unfolds .

The Unlikely Cop

At the heart of the storm is Sub-Inspector Jayprakash, played by Ali Fazal. Described as an introvert and an “unlikely cop,” Jayprakash is a flawed, conflicted officer constantly trying to prove himself within a rapidly changing political and social environment .

The case — the disappearance and subsequent murder of two teenagers — becomes a nationwide manhunt, pulling the rookie officer into a disturbing world of violence, corruption, and human depravity . The trailer promises not just a standard police procedural, but a deep character study of a man consumed by a case that threatens to unravel everything he believes in.

A Parent’s Fight for Justice

Sonali Bendre, marking a powerful return to the screen, plays Mona Arora, the grieving mother of one of the victims. The trailer captures her character’s transition from quiet vulnerability to a mother seeking justice, adding a deep emotional core to the narrative .

Aamir Bashir steps into the role of a high-ranking army officer, whose son is also among the missing, bringing a stern intensity to the search for the truth .

The series also features a strong ensemble cast including Akash Makhija, Ramandeep Yadav, Divya Sharma, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in pivotal roles .

Behind the Scenes

‘Raakh’ is directed and executive produced by Prosit Roy, known for his work on the critically acclaimed series ‘Paatal Lok’ . The series is created, written, and co-directed by Anusha Nandakumar and Sandeep Saket, with dialogues by Ayush Trivedi .

The show is produced by Deepak Dhar, Rishi Negi, Mrinalini Jain, and Shyam Rathi under the banner of Endemol Shine India in association with BhaDiPa .

Cast and Director Reactions

Speaking about the series, Ali Fazal shared his excitement: “When I was first approached for Raakh, I expected it to be a conventional investigative crime thriller, but the moment I read the script, I was drawn in. Anusha, Sandeep and Prosit have woven a story that is layered, emotionally intense, and packed with gritty realism” .

Sonali Bendre added, “Raakh came to me at a time when I’ve become very conscious of the stories I choose to be part of. What drew me to it was how layered and emotionally complex it is… It gave me the opportunity to explore emotional spaces I hadn’t tapped into before as an actor” .

Director Prosit Roy described the project as profoundly fulfilling: “What excited me most about Raakh was the opportunity to merge the thrill of a gripping manhunt with an unflinching exploration of trauma and the darker impulses of human nature” .

Release Date and Platform

The series is produced by Banijay Asia’s Endemol Shine India. After months of anticipation, Prime Video confirmed the official premiere date: June 12, 2026 . The series will be available for streaming exclusively on the platform in over 240 countries and territories worldwide .

The final shot of the trailer, featuring the suspected murderers relaxing in front of the Taj Mahal, promises a narrative filled with unexpected twists, confirming that in ‘Raakh’, “All truths will be revealed in due time” .
