Mumbai, India – Ten films come to theatres this week, spanning Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, English, and Hindi, including Nani’s action drama The Paradise and Karthik Subbaraj’s TIFF-premiered Dorothy. Here’s what’s releasing in theatres this week.
Hindi: The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest
When ancient folk legends bleed into the modern world, survival becomes a matter of faith. The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest kicks off in Mumbai, where Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia play a married couple heading back to their ancestral roots for Chhath Puja. But the quiet homecoming quickly turns dark. The film is billed as a folklore spectacle about a forbidden forest governed by a chilling rule: entry into the forest after sunset is prohibited. The film also stars Sunil Grover, Shweta Tiwari, Maniesh Paul, and Anup Soni. Directed by Panchayat creator Deepak Kumar Mishra, it releases on September 25.
Malayalam: Aaram and Dhoomakethu
Aaram is a crime thriller set in a moody coastal town that explores an unexpected crisis setting a local police officer’s life into deep psychological turmoil. Directed by Rajeesh Parameswaran, it stars Saiju Kurup, Siddique, and Anju Kurian. Dhoomakethu, directed by Sudhi Maddison, stars Sajin Gopu and Nikhila Vimal and centres on a time-travel premise of a couple stuck in an infinite time loop on their wedding night. Both release on September 25.
Tamil: Dorothy, Meesaya Murukku 2, and Anbil Avan
Karthik Subbaraj’s Dorothy, starring Keerthy Suresh, Sananth, and Rishikanth, is set in rural Tamil Nadu in the early 1990s and follows two boys growing up in an unforgiving environment. It had its world premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, marking the first Tamil feature to premiere at TIFF in the past decade, and carries an original score by Ilaiyaraaja. Meesaya Murukku 2, directed by and starring Hiphop Tamizha, is a sequel to the 2017 film and co-stars Ketika Sharma, Chaithra J. Achar, Ramya Ranganathan, Nassar, and Karunas. Anbil Avan stars Ashok Selvan and Preity Mukhundhan as a couple whose relationship is tested after marriage. All three release on September 25.
Telugu: The Paradise
Directed by Srikanth Odela and starring Nani, this action drama centres on a marginalised tribal community’s long oppression and denial of basic rights, tracking the rise of a leader who challenges a deeply entrenched system. The cast includes Kayadu Lohar alongside Nani, Raghav Juyal as the villain Vikram Malik, and Mohan Babu and Sampoornesh Babu in pivotal roles. It opens on September 24.

English: Avengers Endgame: Encore, Heart of the Beast, and Runner
The 2019 Marvel blockbuster Avengers: Endgame returns to theatres in an extended cut longer than the original release, with new footage connecting the story to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Heart of the Beast, directed by David Ayer, stars Brad Pitt as a former Special Forces officer stranded in the Alaskan wilderness after a plane crash, alongside J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe. Runner, directed by Scott Waugh, stars Alan Ritchson, Owen Wilson, and Rodrigo Santoro in an action film about a former soldier delivering an organ for a child’s transplant while being pursued by a cartel. All three release on September 25.
