Mumbai, India – Veteran actor Pradeep Rawat, best known for his memorable performances in Aamir Khan-starrer Ghajini and Lagaan, passed away on Tuesday after a battle with cancer. He was 74. The news of his death was confirmed by his Lagaan co-star Yashpal Sharma, who shared a heartfelt tribute on social media. “Pradeep Rawat, Ghajini our Deva of Lagaan RIP,” Sharma wrote.

Rawat rose to stardom with his powerful portrayal of Ashwatthama in the iconic television series Mahabharat, a role that etched him in the memory of Indian audiences. Over a prolific career spanning several decades, he worked across industries, delivering memorable performances in both films and television. His other notable works include TV serials Tehkikaat, Chandrakanta, and Yug, and films such as Meri Jung, Sarfarosh, The Hero: Story of a Spy, and Chhava.

Rawat’s career was distinguished by his versatility and commanding screen presence, whether playing the menacing villain in Ghajini or the loyal Deva in Lagaan. He leaves behind a rich legacy of work that has influenced generations of actors and filmmakers.
