Mumbai, India – Tom Holland’s return as the web-slinger in Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already breaking records in India, even a week before its theatrical release. The highly anticipated Marvel film has registered the highest day-one advance bookings among Hollywood films in the country this year, surpassing the pre-sales of Christopher Nolan’s epic, The Odyssey. According to a report by Pinkvilla, the film had sold over 1.4 lakh tickets for its opening day across PVR Inox and Cinepolis as of Tuesday, July 21, exceeding the final opening-day pre-sales of Nolan’s film.
The strong booking momentum, with a week still remaining, has led to projections of the film crossing a remarkable 5 lakh advance ticket sales before its release. This would bring it close to the benchmark set by its predecessor, Spider-Man: No Way Home, which sold around 5.5 lakh tickets in India ahead of its 2021 release. If the current trend continues, Brand New Day is expected to comfortably surpass the 5 lakh mark in national cinema chains.
Based on the robust pre-sales trend, Pinkvilla Predicts has projected an opening-day collection of ₹40 crore to ₹48 crore nett in India. The report noted that this estimate could be revised upwards if bookings maintain their current pace. The previous installment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, enjoyed an exceptional run at the Indian box office, collecting over ₹265 crore gross, setting high expectations for the new film.
The record-breaking advance bookings underscore the immense popularity of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in India and the huge appetite for Marvel films in the market. With Spider-Man: Brand New Day poised for a massive opening, it is set to become one of the biggest Hollywood releases in the country this year.
