Bengaluru, India – The trailer of America America 2, directed by veteran filmmaker Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar, has been released, promising a feel-good love triangle. The Kannada relationship drama stars Shanvi Srivastava, Nirup Bhandari, and Pruthvi Ambaar. The film is a spiritual sequel to Nagathihalli’s 1997 classic America America, which was the first Kannada movie to be released in the US. The original film explored an intense love triangle and the pursuit of the American Dream at the cost of emotional isolation.
The trailer hints at an emotionally charged relationship drama set against gorgeous backdrops, with Shanvi’s character torn between two men played by Nirup and Pruthvi. Shot primarily in Seattle, the film also has portions set in Mysuru. Nagathihalli has reunited with composer Mano Murthy for the music, whose work on the original is still celebrated. During the trailer launch in Mysuru, Nagathihalli said, “In another 10–11 days, I am about to give birth, and the labour pains have already started. There is both fear and anxiety.” He explained that he had been waiting for the right time to make this film, and now felt it had arrived.
The film is based on a novel by Sahana Vijaykumar, with background score by Nakul Abhyankar, editing by Sri Crazy Mindz, and cinematography by SK Rao. Produced under Nagathihalli Cine Creations, America America 2 is slated for a theatrical release on September 11. The veteran director expressed his faith in Kannada audiences, saying, “I always make films believing that the audience is more intelligent than me. They have given so much respect to an ordinary teacher like me.”
