MUMBAI: The anticipation for Dhurandhar 2 is already sky-high, and now Yami Gautam has poured fuel on the fire. The actress, wife of director Aditya Dhar, has revealed that she has already seen the sequel and was left utterly spellbound by it.
Speaking at the News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2026, Yami shared her emotional reaction to the film, offering fans a tantalizing glimpse of what to expect from one of the most awaited sequels in recent times.
A “Life’s Effort” from Aditya Dhar
Yami did not hold back in her praise for her husband, the man behind the massive blockbuster Uri: The Surgical Strike and the first Dhurandhar film.
“My husband has made some incredible films like Uri, etc. Most recently was Dhurandhar, of course. He has that kind of passion to make a film like Dhurandhar; otherwise, it wouldn’t have been possible,” she said.
But her comments about the sequel were even more personal and profound. Describing her experience of watching Dhurandhar 2, Yami revealed it left her deeply moved.
“I have already watched Dhurandhar 2. It is beyond extraordinary. I was really emotional,” she shared. The feeling was so powerful that it lingered with her long after the screening. “I had to catch a flight that day, so I couldn’t say anything to Aditya. But later, I couldn’t do anything. I had to read a script, but I couldn’t; I had to watch something, but I couldn’t. I was just watching the beautiful sunset outside and wondering what I will tell Aditya when the flight lands. I wanted to justify my feelings on the film and what I experienced.”
Her ultimate verdict? “Aditya loves his audience and the country, and he has given his life’s effort to make this film. Dhurandhar 2 will be an experience that the audience will never forget.”
The Phenomenon of ‘Dhurandhar’
For context, the first Dhurandhar film was a colossal success, crossing Rs 800 crore in India and a staggering Rs 1300 crore worldwide. It wasn’t just a box office behemoth; it became a cultural talking point, with every song and scene dissected by fans online. This massive success naturally places immense expectations on the sequel.
A Hint at the Release Date?
When playfully asked by the host if any of her own films were releasing on March 19, Yami laughed and deflected, saying only Aditya Dhar could provide official information about Dhurandhar. However, she added with a grin, “Like everyone else, I also have an important appointment that day in the cinema hall, so I’ll meet you all there.”
This has, of course, fueled speculation that March 19 could indeed be the release date for Dhurandhar 2, though an official announcement is still awaited.
From First Script to First Sequel
Yami also looked back at the origins of the Dhurandhar journey. She recalled reading the initial 40-page script while shooting for her film Article 370. “My eyes watered. I was not able to say anything, and my reaction was enough to tell Aditya how I really felt. I know how hard he worked to make this film, with honesty and belief.”
With her emotional endorsement and the phenomenal legacy of the first film, the wait for Dhurandhar 2 has just become even more difficult for fans.
