Mumbai, India – Acclaimed filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia is set to return with a high-stakes action thriller, Ghamasaan, headlined by Arshad Warsi and Pratik Gandhi. The film, which premieres on ZEE5 later this year, has already generated significant buzz following a successful festival run at the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, the Cinevesture International Film Festival, and the 16th Chicago South Asian Film Festival. Produced by Jio Studios and Golden Ratio Films, Ghamasaan promises an intense, morally grey showdown set against the rugged backdrop of the Hindi heartland.
The film follows Aditya (Pratik Gandhi), a fearless IPS officer determined to bring down the dreaded dacoit Maharaj (Arshad Warsi). As he navigates a system riddled with corruption and moral ambiguity, the narrative unfolds into a “high-stakes battle of power, justice, and survival.” In an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Dhulia shared his vision for the project. “I have always been drawn to stories from the Hindi heartland that explore power, loyalty, and the complexities of human relationships,” he said. “With Ghamasaan, we wanted to tell a gripping cat-and-mouse story that goes beyond crime and conflict to delve into the emotions, rivalries, and unspoken tensions that shape its characters.”
Dhulia, whose seminal filmography includes Paan Singh Tomar, Haasil, and the Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster franchise, noted that his latest aims to subvert standard regional crime tropes. “Set against a stark and evocative landscape, the film pushes the boundaries of the genre while staying rooted in the world and storytelling tradition I love,” he added. “It’s intense, layered, and filled with characters who exist in shades of grey, and I’m excited for audiences to experience it.” The teaser for Ghamasaan was unveiled on Friday, building anticipation for what promises to be a compelling addition to the streaming thriller genre, driven by the powerful performances of its lead actors.
