The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster will hit theatres on October 15, with music from Anirudh Ravichander
The release date of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, Jailer 2, was announced by the makers on Thursday by unveiling a promo. The Nelson directorial will be released in theatres on October 15 this year.
The promo video features brief glimpses from the film, building anticipation for Rajinikanth’s arrival as he is seen in shadows and then walking on a road with the thrilling theme song composed by Anirudh Ravichander playing over. The promo doesn’t reveal much about the plot and doesn’t show the look of Rajinikanth in the film.
About the first film
Jailer, Nelson’s first collaboration with Rajinikanth, was released on August 10, 2023. The film, with memorable cameos from Shivarajkumar and Mohanlal, went on to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year. Vinayakan played a fiery antagonist in the movie.
The film had an ensemble cast featuring Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah, Vasanth Ravi, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa Menon and Sunil with cameos by Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff, Kishore and Makarand Deshpande.

Jailer 2 has been shot by Vijay Kartik Kannan and edited by R. Nirmal. It is produced by Sun Pictures.
Rajinikanth’s upcoming projects
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth will also be seen in Dharman, the much-awaited collaboration between him and Kamal Haasan. The film is being helmed by Ashwath Marimuthu and produced by Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International.
