The last time a film release felt like a festival in India was three years ago with Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. In 2026, that same electric energy belongs to Dhurandhar 2, fronted by a ferocious Ranveer Singh. If the first film lit your fuse, this sequel blows your mind with twice the fury, action, and violence.

Plot: The Origin of HamzaPerformances: Ranveer’s Masterclass

Director Aditya Dhar delivers an out-and-out Ranveer Singh show that brings “pataakhe to Pakistan’s terror network party” and shreds it to pieces, figuratively and literally.

Plot: The Origin of Hamza

The film takes us back to 2002, revealing the origin story of Jaskirat Singh Rangi. A 21-year-old from Pathankot, training to become a third-generation Indian Army officer, his life is shattered when his father is killed and his sisters are gang-raped over a petty land dispute.

Sentenced to death row, he is abducted by Ajay Sanyal (R Madhavan) and his trusted aide to be inducted into Operation Dhurandhar. Over the years, Jaskirat transforms, becoming Hamza Ali Mazari, a lion (“babbar sher”) tasked with taking down Pakistan’s terror network from within Karachi.

Performances: Ranveer’s Masterclass

If one had to sum up Ranveer Singh’s performance in one word, it would be range. He makes you feel empathy for his character in emotional scenes and makes you squirm when he’s hacking his adversaries. A key scene where a chained, wounded Hamza laughs maniacally is one of the most gooseflesh-raising moments delivered by the actor.

ActorRole & Performance
Ranveer SinghA majestic acting masterclass as the growling Hamza/Jaskirat.
R MadhavanPlays the dual role of the ‘Charioteer of Karma’ and the ‘Godfather,’ pulling strings from behind.
